We had an AMAZING presentation today! Kogan's grandmother came in to talk to us all about Metis culture. We are so thankful she came in!
We were treated with some homemade bannock right away made my Kogan's mom. It was yummy! Miss Graham and Ms.Badall got to model a special Metis coat called a Capote. It was very warm but not heavy. We got to touch and feel many artifacts including moccasins, a wagon replica, and some leather. At the end we learned about Metis sashes. She then gave us all a mini-sash to take home and wear on our coats. We also learned what certain colours mean on a sash. For instance a green sash is worn in the summer and means that the harvest has been good. The Metis people recently introduced a new sash with pink in it, this sash is for hope and resilience against breast cancer. We learned a lot today!
