As a class, we brainstormed what we thought made a good classmate, a good teacher, and a safe and caring classroom. After brainstorming we chose our top things that we thought should be a part of our class promise. We wrote it up together and here it is!
Our Mission… We want our classroom to feel safe. We will respect ourselves, others, and our classroom. We respect everyone’s right to learn We will keep our classroom clean and organized so that it is comfy and calm. We will include others and make sure to greet each other with a smile. We promise to be kind and helpful to our classmates and our teacher. We are a team! We think it is important to participate, be honest, and have fun We believe in ourselves and in each other!

Introducing our wonderful grade 3 class! Here are some things we have been learning:
Remember to check out our twitter feed for lots of photos of our day to day life! Book Exchange
By: Lexus and Austin On June 14 there will be a book exchange. People brought books to share with everyone. They donated the books we are using. Everyone will get one book each. All the extra books will go to our little free library. We will be in charge of taking care and organising the books. The books are all used. Please donate a book or more to support child's reading. All the school will be there to get a book. If there is left over books kids with siblings might be able to get books for their siblings. June is CRAZY! We have big things planned. Here is a list of everything we have in June thus far.
We are doing are little free library project. We got a booklet to help us become engineers. Scott from Abby Builder's came to show us different materials. We got to keep the the supplies that Scott brought. We did 2 drafts on what we think would be cool, then we got together with are groups and made a little free library draft together. The drafts that we did together had to be colored in nicely. Then we got to make one more if we wonted. We went on our Chromebook's and made a blueprint of our LFL. We are doing a prototype for Abby Builders. We are making then out of plastic, cardboard, and tin. We got really far. Once your group is done you get to color your prototype. I'm excited to see what happens next. In 3G we have been working on the little free library project. A little free libary is a little kind of a oversized bird house with a post. People put in books then take a book then when there done reading they can bring it back. It is a place people can trade their books in for other ones they haven't read yet.
So far we have been working on our design for the little free library. We will make a prototype then submit it to the abbey Master Builders to see which one will be built for real. Scott from Abbey Master Builders has been helping us with the materials and paint. He told us which materials were good and bad and same thing with the paint to. He also showed use about some materials to use. Terry from the town of Blackfalds showed use some types of pillars in the adding of the town hall. He telled us what builder needed to do to build the project. He helped use by telling us what you need to do to build something. By: Jack S Today we were fortunate enough to be given a tour of the Blackfalds Community Hall expansion project. Terry, from the town of Blackfalds, gave us some information about how the plans were made. We learned it takes a lot of teamwork and communication! We also learned a lot about safety from the Shunda contractors. They gave us a tour of the site and showed us how buildings are sometimes built. We got to see some beams and pillars, two things we have been studying in science. We got to go inside the construction trailer and even inside some parts of the building where we were safe.
It has been awhile since we updated our blog! This post is essentially a photo dump of the last two months.
Here is a list of things you might see in these photos
With the help of technology we were able to age ourselves to look like we were 100 years old! Next, we could write anything we wanted about our life as a 100 year old. Some of us chose to write journal style entries, while others talked about what had happened in their life. Some of them are quite silly and some are pretty realistic! We loved sharing them with our class and laughing at how funny they were!
We have spent the past 6 weeks going to Burman University to take swimming lessons! We learned a lot of things such as: water safety, back crawl, diving, and survival skills. We really liked going off the diving board and the rope swing. We also really liked our instructors. They were kind and funny. For some of us it was our first time swimming and we did awesome!
